that one is on the list, i think? or at least this imaginary list in my head... but truth be told i've never been told anything directly about the work done on those. just what i'd heard from jef hartsel and go_skate.

I'd think being what seems like the opitomy of variations is enough. Cause no 2 are alike are they? And that said, of how variant decks for the most part is a lost art. Aside from top stain color or lamenent plays. And some re-issue stuff. But I wouldn't count that and the variation are really one dimensional. Been one of the more interesting contemplations about these things as rummage stacks here and run through people's on-line collections.

yeah, i'm a big fan of the variant myself... plus it allows you carte blanche to be just that more wacky as a collector. especially if you like one particular graphic a bunch. but yeah, the variant swiftly died in 92-ish, give or take an exception here or there (and not counting the various hand-painteds). one of the last really good ones being, i think, the blind danny way bladerunner... but i'm sure there are a few others i can't recall offhand, like if you want to get picky on the background slick colors for the jason lee burger (white or gray).
